How to use Voltaren

Rubbing, it seems simple. And actually, it is. Astonishingly rubbing can relieve pain for as long as 20 minutes. Scientists have found that gentle stroking activates "pleasure" nerves beneath the skin, which then reduces the sensation of pain from other nerves. In simple terms, your brain is completely overloaded with competing sensory information that it stops pain signals from being appropriately perceived.

So, if you thought the phrase ‘rub it better’ was just for children, you’d be wrong. Grownups can seriously benefit too.

Clean

Should you wash your hands after using Voltaren

Now to clean up!

Once you’ve rubbed in the gel, you may still have some excess gel on your hands. Wipe them with an absorbent tissue (not a wet wipe!). Throw it in the bin. Then wash your hands (provided your hands are not the site of pain, of course). Make sure to wait for the applied gel to dry before jumping in the shower, too.

When you are finished with your tube, take it to a pharmacy so they can safely recycle or dispose of the tube. For more information here’s a handy site with more info on how to dispose of medicine safely: http://medsdisposal.eu

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I use Voltaren when pregnant?

The use of Voltaren Emulgel (gel and spray) and Voltaren 12 H gel, which all contain the non-steroidal inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac, have not been studied in pregnant women. Use only on advice of your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby.

Do not use if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy, as it could harm your unborn child or cause problems at delivery.

  • Can I take Voltaren when breastfeeding?

In Voltaren 12H Pain Relief Emulgel 2.32% where the product is applied to the skin, it is not known whether diclofenac is excreted in breast milk. • Does the pain relief from Voltaren 12H Gel last all day?

Voltaren 12H Gel requires only two applications per day, approximately 12 hours apart (morning and evening), to provide up to 12 hour joint pain relief from pain and inflammation. Diclofenac accumulates in the skin which acts as a reservoir from where there is a sustained release of drug into underlying tissue.

  • What is special about Voltaren Gel?

Voltaren 12H Gel can provide concentrated pain relief up to 12 hours by targeting pain and inflammation at the source. By applying the gel twice a day (morning and evening) to the point of pain, diclofenac accumulates in the skin which acts as a reservoir from where there is a sustained release of drug into underlying tissue, deep into the joint. The added permeation enhancer in Voltaren 12H gel’s Emulgel technology allows up to 3x more active ingredient to penetrate the skin.

  • When shouldn’t I use Voltaren 12H Gel?
